Well, I've used Fedora (the free version of red hat) and the main difference that I found i'ts the appearance, suse It's more colorful an fedora I'ts a little ugly, the default installation of suse comes with all the necessary for multimedia, I don't remember, but Ithink that doesn't have the mp3 plugin (but it's easy to find).
And Fedora comes with all the necessary for programming (java, eclipse an lots of tools), of course in fedora you also can install the multimedia packages and in suse install the development packages.
Suse it's based in red hat, both use RPM's and therefore you can use suse packages in red hat/fedora and, red hat/fedora packages in suse (do this only if you don't find the packages for your distribution).
Now I use Ubuntu and Is a good distribution If you wanna prove it.
Bye.
